We are currently embarking on an ambitious transformation & growth plan, leveraging technology and data as strategic levers. We are recruiting for a Head of Data & Analytics, that will be critical in delivering our strategy.

This will be a senior leadership role who will take ownership of driving our data strategy and capability maturity. This role will be responsible for proactively managing partnership with the business, to drive value creation by leveraging both, data assets internally and data ecosystem externally. The associated tasks include:

  • Embedding data and analytics governance
  • Fostering the creation of a data-driven culture, related competencies and data literacy across our Businesses
Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Lead and shape the Data & Analytics (D&A) organisation, embedding best-practice data governance, modern architecture, and advanced analytics capabilities that directly support MRS-GM’s underwriting, risk management, and operational efficiency goals. Ensure data strategy is fully integrated with the wider insurance business agenda and regulatory expectations.
  • Critical Data Decision-Making: Own and drive assessments of MRS-GM’s data landscape, making informed, business-critical decisions on data quality, ownership, and usage. Act as the accountable authority for prioritising data initiatives that strengthen underwriting insight, portfolio performance, and competitive advantage across the Lloyd’s and global specialty insurance markets.
  • Value Creation : Take ownership of the organisation’s information assets, ensuring insights generated support smarter, faster and more effective decision-making at every level of the business.
  • Enterprise Collaboration : Work closely with Executive Leadership and business data owners to evolve the D&A strategy, chairing forums and driving cross-functional alignment on data priorities.
  • Operating Model Design : Establish and refine a fit-for-purpose data operating model that builds the capabilities and competencies needed to deliver long-term business value.
  • Analytics Expansion : Lead the development of the Data & Analytics Centre of Excellence (CoE), broadening the organisation’s ability to apply advanced analytics and emerging techniques in ways that drive commercial impact.
  • Governance & Trust : In partnership with key leaders, set and maintain data governance frameworks that build trust, manage risk, and ensure the consistent application of data across the organisation.
  • Risk Management & Compliance : Develop clear controls and measures to ensure data quality, integrity and compliance with regulatory requirements, minimising risk to the business and protecting critical assets.
  • Partnerships in Protection : Collaborate with Information Security and Data Privacy leaders to ensure robust data protection across the entire lifecycle — from acquisition to retirement.
  • Innovation Enablement : Identify new sources and applications of data that can unlock business innovation and competitive advantage, and put in place the processes to integrate them effectively.
  • Business Assurance : Ensure that reports and insights delivered to the business are consistent, trusted, and reflective of the true state of performance, enabling executives and teams to make informed decisions with confidence.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Significant leadership experience in leading Data & Analytics cross-functional teams and enterprise wide Data & Analytics programs.
  • Experience in formulating and implementing Data Strategies.
  • Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or similar etc.
  • Agile – Scrum/Kanban, sprint planning using JIRA, TFS or similar
  • Experience with SQL, Python or R (other languages welcomed) from a leadership perspective.
  • Experience with data quality monitoring, tooling selection and deployment
  • Experience from within the London Insurance Marketand General Insurance
  • Experience with Data science or leading a Data science practice
  • Experience with Azure Data & Analytics platform
  • Experience of working within the Actuarial space, or are a qualified actuary by background
  • University Degree and/or relevant professional qualification
