Job Description:

The Position

You will develop the UK&I Asset Management Grid strategy and lead all client-facing Grid initiatives across our Asset Management portfolio. You will serve as a key contact between support services delivery teams, wider Group functions, and clients. Your role involves supporting the development and delivery of Grid Services related to operational assets managed by the Global Asset Management Teams, aiming to meet company, client, team, and project goals. While primarily supporting the UK Asset Management Team, there will be opportunities to collaborate with other RES regions.

You will ensure our Asset Management portfolio complies with Grid Code requirements, reporting to the Grid Services and Compliance Manager and working with Asset Managers, the AM Finance Team, RES Control Centre, UKI Energy Networks, and Routes to Market Teams. Ancillary Grid Services will be developed by the Routes to Market (Commercial) and Grid Services and Compliance (Technical) teams, with delivery by the respective teams and the RES Control Centre. Although technical, understanding the commercial aspects of these services is essential.

This role is strategic within RES, focusing on developing Grid Services and increasing the standardization and volume of Grid-related services for the Asset Management business. Responsibilities include identifying new Grid service opportunities, promoting these services to clients, and maximizing revenue potential, especially with key accounts. You will support and influence support services strategies, collaborate with business heads to develop new services, and engage with clients through conferences and events, providing feedback to refine offerings.

Regular communication and collaboration with the Energy Networks Team and Routes to Market Team are required to share information on Grid Policies and Initiatives. Your accountabilities include:

  • Developing and reviewing Grid strategies concerning renewable assets.
  • Monitoring changes in Grid regulation, policies, and ancillary services relevant to client assets.
  • Collaborating with the Routes to Market Team to develop new Grid Ancillary Services, ensuring compliance and technical input from the Grid Services and Compliance Team.
  • Providing monthly Grid Strategy reports to the UK&I Asset Management Team.
  • Supporting the Advisory Team with technical reviews and Grid documentation queries.
  • Participating in meetings with UK&I Energy Networks, Routes to Market, and Control Centre teams.
  • Understanding client needs, coordinating delivery of Grid services and projects, and managing technical and commercial aspects.
  • Identifying additional chargeable Grid services and monitoring their financial performance.
  • Leading expertise in areas relevant to the Operations Support Team and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Supporting growth and cost reduction targets.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Serving as the first contact for Grid-related issues within the UK&I Asset Management Team.
  • Preparing reports and presentations on Grid Services and Compliance.
  • Engaging internally and externally, including with clients, industry events, and grid operators.
  • Traveling within the UK, Ireland, and Europe, and presenting at conferences to enhance RES visibility.

Knowledge required includes Grid Ancillary Services, regulations, wind and solar technologies, safety standards, and electrical equipment. Skills include initiative, planning, project management, and commercial awareness. Experience in managing Grid issues on renewable assets, project management, and renewable technologies is essential. A degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or relevant discipline is required.
