JOB SUMMARY
The General Manager (White Glove and Big and Bulky) will be a valuable member in contributing to Metro’s future. This individual will be responsible for leading a cross‑functional group to evaluate overall market (new and existing clients) requirements, as well as market capabilities (software solutions/service providers) for Transportation Management.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the success of the operation ensuring adherence to business plans and budgets.
- Liaise with the Finance Team for monthly Customer reconciliation and internal budgets.
- Oversees delivery & warehouse operations, while ensuring established operational procedures are being followed according to company standards to effectively meet/exceed customer requirements.
- Develops and following approval, implements changes to operational systems to improve the flow in customer service, order management and shipping and receiving of customer products on time and undamaged.
- Manages key performance indicators and other related measurements, providing analysis, reporting and recommendations on a timely basis.
- Reviews forecasts, inventory reports, sales order reports, and other available material and devises plans to meet fluctuations in warehousing operation.
- Assists in establishing budgets for the facility and implements controls necessary to keep expenditures within budgetary limitations.
- Ensures that inventory and cycle counts are performed and where necessary, completes appropriate investigation and approved adjustments.
- Provides leadership to operations group by: Hiring, training, developing and scheduling competent staff
- Articulating the goals of the operations and Company including but not limited to health and safety, productivity, housekeeping
- Providing opportunity for success

- Manages ongoing relationships and interactions with customers, vendors and carriers working to assure adherence to contractual agreements.
- Will ensure that employees are trained as necessary. This includes cross‑training to ensure efficient skill levels, soft skills training and certification in accordance with company guidelines and government regulations.
- Accountable for the facility safety programs to provide a safe workplace for all employees and within the regulations of local and provincial legislations.
- Responsible for setting quality and productivity standards as well as controls for customer service operations.
- Oversee in‑house customer service operations while establishing and managing productivity reporting.
- First point of contact for customer communications and escalations.

- Establishing and managing inventory controls, levels, planning, forecasting and they will need to proactively report on incomplete orders to internal and external customers.
- Assumes additional related responsibilities as required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Post‑secondary education and/or a combination of relevant experience and education.
- Minimum 5 years of manager experience or similar, preferably in a distribution environment
- You have proven experience in developing positive employee relations with an emphasis on creating a collaborative team environment.
- Previous experience using SAP and Warehouse Management Systems.
- Previous experience using TMW Truckmate or other Transportation Management Systems.
- Strong service quality experience with specific measures and accomplishments.
- Demonstrated leadership and project management capabilities.
- You have a strong understanding of operations.
- You work through problems logically with a solutions‑focused approach.
- Ability to analyze, plan, and manage resources effectively
- You are an initiative‑taker, who thinks proactively to continuously improve operations.
