What you’ll work on

As a Full Stack Product Engineer on the Onboarding & Activation team, you will be focused on revolutionizing the initial user experience at 9fin to drive significant growth and revenue. We're directly addressing the challenge of transforming our trial conversion rate, by ensuring new users immediately grasp the immense value of our global, multi-product platform. This involves deeply understanding varied user journeys, streamlining complex onboarding processes, and enhancing feature adoption so that our powerful platform becomes instantly intuitive and valuable for time-pressed financial professionals in the fixed income industry worldwide.

Every day is different, but here’s an example of the kind of things you’ll work on day to day:

• Join the team in proactively uncovering user pain points through user interviews, journey mapping, competitor analysis, focus groups and data analysis.

• Ideate and lead full-stack end to end software delivery and analysis of high impact user facing experiments and functionality to incrementally solve these user pain points, whilst taking ownership of the product outcomes.

• Release code into production environments continuously, using techniques such as feature flags to safely release incrementally to users.

• Craft code that meets high quality standards for style, maintainability, and best practices. Maintain and advocate for these standards throughout the engineering org through collaboration with other engineers and code review.

• Lead the technical design and build of your new experiments, functionality or systems by creating short proof of concepts to get fast and actionable feedback before deciding on the next steps.

• Share and contribute to the product vision to focus on allowing 9fin’s platform to scale with our company ambition.

• You will also play a part in mentoring other developers including more junior colleagues to impart knowledge and build their skills.

• Write high quality documentation and implement user & system metrics and observability as you go to continually learn, assess and improve 9fin’s platforms and products.

About You

This role will be a great fit if you:

• Are someone who has a product mindset and loves sharing ownership of our client facing product with the rest of the team to collectively make product decisions and build a product that solves user needs and create a product they love having as part of their workflow.

• You have the full stack software engineering experience to allow you to design, build and deliver full-stack functionality and software including setting up infrastructure using our terraformed paved roads.

• A highly analytical technologist, who prioritises user experience and is experienced in translating user needs into software improvements.

• A strong communicator, who can present to team members and stakeholders (technical and non-technical) how you & your team’s ideas will improve our user’s experience on the platform as well as the wider technical advantages and tradeoffs of your solution.

• You know how to use user data and metrics to measure the success of new software changes and functionality against team KPIs as well as identify and prioritise impactful outcomes as well as mitigate technological risks.

• Can empathise with our users and how they interact with the product to find pain points and ideate a better experience for them through beautiful user interfaces, driven by a passion for creating delightful customer experiences.

• Collaborates well with business colleagues, other engineers, UX Designers and Product managers to collectively lead product innovation achieved via fast delivery and frequent feedback iterations.

• Identify tech debt and developer experience improvements and champions technical improvements and initiatives within your team and across multiple teams with the guilds.

• Can apply software development best practices, including documentation, testing, code readability, and efficiency, in order to positively influence team outcomes within the development process.
