Job description

Copart UK Ltd are looking for a detail‑oriented and proactive full time Financial Accountant to support the preparation of UK statutory accounts and coordination of external audits to be based at our head office in Wootton, Bedfordshire MK43 9EJ.

As a Financial Accountant you will work closely with the Financial Reporting Manager and Head of Financial Reporting, playing an important role in delivering high‑quality reporting and supporting process improvements. Alongside this, you will contribute to maintaining effective financial controls and ensuring compliance across UK operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the preparation and completion of UK statutory accounts.
  • Assist in the external statutory audits, liaising with auditors and resolving queries.
  • Process month‑end journals and complete balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with filing requirements, including statutory accounts, VAT returns, HMRC submissions, and Office for National Statistics returns.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for process improvements and business process re‑engineering.
  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) controls, including collation and maintenance of evidence.
  • Provide accurate data and analytics to the tax team to support tax computations and returns.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of accounting standards and apply changes as required.
  • Perform any other duties as required by your line manager.

Essentials
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA).
  • Strong knowledge of Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) or experience in general control management.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to communicate financial information effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Previous audit experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build relationships across teams.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Up‑to‑date knowledge of accounting standards and recent developments.
