Finance Team Leader – Accounts Receivable

Good afternoon, I am currently representing Lambeth Council. We are offering an initial temporary contract of 3‑6 months with the possibility of an extension or permanent position for the right candidate. Salary will be negotiable depending on experience.

Location: SW2 1RW

Responsibilities
  • Deputise for the Head of Exchequer Services as required.
  • Proactively engage with senior management across the organisation, liaising with senior officers to provide specialist professional, technical expertise and advice to ensure effective financial operations and decision‑making.
  • Take ownership of, lead, manage and deliver all aspects of exchequer services to the highest professional standards, collaborating with service and other professional colleagues where necessary to achieve outcomes for service users and the Council.
  • Ensure current systems and processes are optimised, building a culture of continuous improvement and implementing new models of service delivery. Maintain purchasing and payment modules, data cleansing and ensure highest quality of data. Resolve payment‑related issues in a satisfactory manner.
  • Maximise benefits from technological changes through ownership and implementation of improvements, using data to drive professional exchequer services. Work with services and colleagues to improve business process design and automation, harmonising processes, systems and approaches across payments and receivables.
Qualifications
  • Experience leading and working at a senior level of local government exchequer services, including managing staff, recruitment, performance management and staff engagement.
  • Demonstrable advanced skills in I.T. applications used by the Council, including purchasing and accounts payable modules, general ledger, Mosaic and other aligned financial modules. Advanced skills in Outlook, Word and Excel are required.
  • Consistent, customer‑focused approach in dealing with suppliers and service users, deploying tact and diplomacy while ensuring Council processes and procedures are followed. Risk‑assessed exceptions must be managed.
