Overview

Finance Officer | 8907 | Fixed Term Contract until 30 April 2027 | 37 hours per week | £39,862 to £41,771 per annum (Scale J) | County Hall, Norwich/Hybrid

We are looking for an experienced Finance Officer to join the Budgeting and Accounting Team here at Norfolk County Council and play a key role in helping to deliver a first class budgeting and accounting service across the organisation.

Norfolk County Council is the main local authority for Norfolk, providing services countywide to Norfolk residents. We take a lead in critical policy areas and work in partnership with local businesses, voluntary organisations and other local authorities to provide the people of Norfolk with excellent services.

Our Budgeting and Accounting Team is a critical part of our organisation, providing support across the breadth of our services to ensure that we are accountable as a council, and that taxpayers are receiving the best possible value for money. Working in a large and complex environment currently going through a significant period of transformational change, you will be part of a talented, proactive team that makes a real difference and supports the continual evolution and long-term objectives of the council.

The role is a full time, grant funded post, initially on a fixed term basis until April 2027.

The core focus of the role is to work closely with Adult Social Care service leads to support transformational change projects, both externally and internally funded.

Responsibilities

  • Provide management and financial accounting information, analyse financial and non-financial data, and communicate findings to colleagues across the organisation to support strategic decision making.
  • Work as part of the Budgeting and Accounting Team to deliver a high-quality budgeting and accounting service.

Qualifications and experience

  • Proven background as a Finance Officer or similar, able to work as part of a finance team.
  • AAT qualified or part-qualified at CCAB level.
  • Ability to analyse financial and non-financial data and communicate insights; capable of presenting information to support decision making.
