The Role: Feature Owner and Planning Manager

The Feature Planning Lead is pivotal in driving digital initiatives forward by expertly managing the experience backlog and ensuring the successful delivery of features. This position works in close collaboration with feature teams to oversee and maintain the backlog and partners with the website management team to coordinate the deployment of completed work. Reporting directly to the Senior Digital Experience Manager the Feature Planning Lead acts as the essential bridge between business needs and technical delivery ensuring that features are clearly defined, effectively prioritised and consistently delivered to meet both user and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Backlog and Requirement Management: manage and continually refine the product backlog ensuring that all tasks, user stories and requirements are clearly documented and kept up to date.
  • Collaborate closely with feature teams to plan and deliver backlog items ensuring that delivery is closely aligned with business priorities and customer needs.
  • Define and gather user requirements establishing explicit acceptance criteria for new features and functionalities.
  • Translate business requirements into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria maintaining a backlog that is transparent and aligned with the overarching roadmap priorities.
  • Planning and Delivery: own and manage the end‑to‑end planning process for digital features ensuring all work aligns with business priorities and fits within capacity constraints.
  • Build and maintain a comprehensive feature roadmap mapping out delivery timelines and interdependencies across multiple teams.
  • Coordinate the smooth transition of work from the Feature team into the Execution channel teams ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  • Support the smooth execution of digital projects through ongoing collaboration with both feature teams and execution channel teams.
  • Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement: liaise with the website management team and the wider Execution channels team to coordinate the rollout and implementation of delivered features.
  • Liaise with the wider Digital Experience and Digital Design teams to ensure a deep understanding of user needs which is reflected in feature planning and prioritisation.
  • Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and delivery teams ensuring clear communication of objectives, progress and potential risks.
  • Gather feedback, clarify requirements and champion the continuous improvement of digital experiences.
  • Manage expectations and deliver regular updates to senior stakeholders.
  • Delivery Support: participate in agile ceremonies ensuring that the backlog is always ready for sprint planning and that features are delivered to specification and on schedule.
  • Assist with release planning, business acceptance testing (BAT) and the tracking of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to support successful delivery.
Key Skills and Experience Required
  • Proven experience in feature management, business analysis or similar roles within digital or web‑based environments.
  • Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail with the capacity to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills enabling effective collaboration with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Solid understanding of agile delivery frameworks with experience in Scrum teams and agile methodologies.
  • Proficiency in backlog and roadmap management tools such as Jira (or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to write high‑quality user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Experience working with content management systems and leading technology platforms such as AEM.
