Vacancy Information

This role is within a unit where Surrey Police and Sussex Police work in collaboration, while remaining two separate legal entities/employers with different terms and conditions.

Both Surrey Police staff and Sussex Police staff are employed in this unit on their own force terms and conditions.

Successful candidates may be appointed on the terms and conditions of employment of either Surrey Police or Sussex Police, depending on organisational requirements. A discussion will be held with the successful candidate to confirm the details of location, salary, allowances, and hours.

Grade: Surrey Police Level 1 / Sussex Police M1

Status: Full Time

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary Grade Range: Surrey Police £44,053 - £57,478 / Sussex Police £47,712 - £52,491

Working Hours: 37.0 Hours per Week

Shift Allowance: No

Location: Multiple Locations (see advert)

The starting salary for this role will usually be at the bottom of the salary range and will be pro-rata if the working hours are less than full time.

The Role & Key Responsibilities

The Estates Project team is part of the wider Estates and Facilities department, responsible for managing the built environment within the police-owned estate, ensuring that the buildings remain compliant, safe, and support the effective delivery of policing in Sussex. The team handles various project deliveries across Surrey and Sussex.

We are pleased to offer 2 x Estates Project Delivery Manager roles in the Estates Project Delivery team based at Police Headquarters Mount Browne or Lewes.

The Estates Project Delivery Manager is responsible for delivering professional, efficient, and effective multi-disciplinary projects supporting operational policing. This customer-facing role involves day-to-day project activities across diverse sites, from single offices to multi-building sites supporting various departments.

You will need to be resilient, self-motivated, with excellent planning and organizational skills, able to manage your workload and adapt to changing priorities. Building strong relationships with colleagues, contractors, and stakeholders is essential.

Skills & Experience

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Educated to ‘HND’ Level 5 or equivalent standard or experience

DESIRABLE

  • Project management qualification such as APM, RICS, or Prince 2

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to support, mentor, and manage staff fairly and constructively
  • Proven skills in persuading, influencing, and negotiating with stakeholders
  • Effective communication skills at all organizational levels, with the ability to produce clear reports
  • Experience in project processes like risk management, issue resolution, and scheduling
  • Experience monitoring project portfolios and budgets
  • Proficient IT skills
  • Experience managing external consultants and internal clients

DESIRABLE

  • Knowledge of operational policing
  • Experience managing staff
  • Skills in project management software (e.g., MS Project)
  • Knowledge of standards in Construction, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems
  • Knowledge of Public Sector Contractor Frameworks
