Job description

Environmental Health Officer (Environmental Protection)

Salary: £41,751 - £43,632 (Grade 11) Designated car user, agile working

(1 post minimum 18 hours per week)

You will need to be highly motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team covering the full range of environmental protection matters including Noise, Air Quality, Light, nuisance, Contaminated Land, permitted processes, planning consultations, drainage and public health matters.

You will be challenged to use your technical knowledge and excellent communication skills to maintain a high standard of customer service across these areas and be able to deal effectively with difficult situations achieving positive outcomes.

Relevant enforcement experience in environmental protection is essential for this position. You will need to be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of applicable law and practice including different enforcement options. Use of the powers under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 will be expected in appropriate circumstances.

An additional qualification in environmental protection work streams is highly desirable. You must be able to undertake site inspections and outside core business hours as required.
