Job summary

A consultancy specializing in business transformation is seeking an Engineering & QA Manager for a contract role in London. This hybrid position will involve leading Engineering and QA teams to enhance technical delivery and implement Automation QA practices. The ideal candidate has experience in complex digital environments and a strong background in cloud engineering, particularly within the Microsoft stack. This role offers a competitive day rate and is expected to last 6 months, starting in February.

Role: Engineering & QA Manager - Contract Role

Seniority: Mid and Senior levels

Day rate: Estimated £400-£600 Inside IR35

Project duration: 6 months, starting from 2nd week of February

Location: Hybrid, 2 days in London, the remainder worked remotely

We’re supporting a consultancy that specialises in business and digital transformation, known for fostering strong relationships while designing and delivering large-scale, complex transformations worldwide. The end-client is a professional services organisation.

They're looking for a Principal or Manager-level leader to oversee Engineering, Tech Leads, and Automation QA capability across three delivery squads (Digital, Business Applications, and Modernisation). This role will play a key part in strengthening technical leadership, challenging delivery approaches, and supporting their client in adopting Automation QA practices, while also helping to build out and future-proof the team.

  • Work with the client to embed and mature Automation QA practices, influencing ways of working and improving quality outcomes
  • Support recruitment of additional team members and contribute to planning and onboarding for the permanent replacement role
Requirements
  • An independent consultant with a consulting background
  • Proven experience leading software engineering and/or QA functions within complex digital environments
  • Strong technical background in software, platform, or cloud engineering (ideally Microsoft stack / Azure)
  • Demonstrated success in scaling test automation and embedding CI/CD and DevOps practices
  • Experience coaching Agile delivery teams and improving engineering and QA maturity
