A leading healthcare provider in England is seeking a passionate Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to support the team within the Emergency Department. Emergency Department Sister/Charge Nurse – The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a passionate and motivated Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to support the Band 7 team within the Emergency Department at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford. The closing date is 09 October 2025.
As a junior sister/charge nurse you will be required to have well developed triage skills and experience coordinating different areas of the emergency department including the resuscitation areas. The department includes a 4-bedded resuscitation area, a co-located Urgent Care Centre, a children's CYPU and access to SDEC and AMA for direct referrals.
We emphasise training and development opportunities with an ED-specific Clinical Practice Education (CPE) team dedicated to nurse development to support a modern career framework. You will be supported by our senior nurses, the CPE team and your colleagues.
The successful candidate will role model continuous professional behaviour and demonstrate the Trust’s core values. They will be keen, approachable and have a friendly manner towards patients, the nursing team and multidisciplinary colleagues. They will help the Band 7 team with continuous improvement of the department and maintain high standards of care as reflected by patient experience.
As a Sister/Charge Nurse you will support the senior and junior team to meet patient needs through the delivery of high quality care. The role involves working as part of a large multidisciplinary team including the ED medical team, clinical practice educators safeguarding, mental health liaison team and clinical specialties. The Sister/Charge Nurse will work clinically including unsocial hours and will be expected to operate across all areas of the Emergency Department and may independently take charge of them when required.
The Sister/Charge Nurse will assist their Team Leader with managing their own team of nurses and ensuring they meet their potential. You will have the opportunity to work in all areas including the children’s CYPU alongside registered children’s nurses to broaden your skills and competency. You will be involved in retention and recruitment and will be responsible for link roles to drive change and improve standards.
