Overview
Electrical MEP Manager - Hospital Project - Plymouth. We are seeking an experienced Electrical MEP Manager to take ownership of the electrical delivery on a major hospital refurbishment and fit-out project in Plymouth. This is a critical leadership role, ensuring seamless coordination, integration, and execution of complex building services within a live healthcare environment.
Responsibilities
- Take full responsibility for managing electrical works within the wider MEP scope from pre-construction through to commissioning and client handover.
- Review and coordinate electrical design, contractor design portion (CDP) submissions, and resolve technical queries.
- Lead and manage electrical subcontractors, ensuring safe working practices, programme adherence, and quality standards are met.
- Chair and contribute to MEP coordination meetings with consultants, subcontractors, and client representatives, resolving clashes and technical issues.
- Oversee quality assurance and compliance for all electrical systems in line with NHS and healthcare standards.
- Develop and implement commissioning strategies, witness testing, and ensure production of comprehensive O&M manuals.
- Support post-handover activities including seasonal commissioning, client training, and defect resolution.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the project team on electrical MEP matters.
Requirements
- Proven experience managing electrical (or full MEP) works on hospital or healthcare projects, ideally in live or occupied environments.
- Strong technical knowledge of electrical building services systems including power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, and integration with mechanical and specialist services.
- Skilled at managing the interface between design, procurement, commercial, and site operations.
- Familiarity with healthcare-specific regulations, commissioning procedures, compliance, RAMS, and quality close-out processes.
- Proficient in project planning software (MS Project / Asta) and experienced with technical documentation and commissioning records.
- Degree or trade-qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related discipline.
- SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid.
