Job description
Overview

Embassy Summer, part of EC English, offers award‑winning summer programmes for young people across the UK, Malta, Spain, South Africa and UAE. Students learn English or Spanish while immersing themselves in local culture. Our programmes combine language classes, excursions and sporting, creative and social activities.

Position Summary

Teachers facilitate the development of students’ Life Skills and Academic Skills by engaging students in conversation and providing feedback that helps them develop communicative skills.

Remuneration

Gross weekly pay: Up to £699.45 (Basic £624.12 + Holiday £75.33). Full‑board residential accommodation included.

Staff uniform

All staff must wear the designated company uniform while on duty, maintain it in a clean and presentable condition, and always adhere to the company’s dress code standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of students and with whom you come into contact.
  • Teach Embassy Summer lessons.
  • Deliver engaging lessons that encourage students to actively participate.
  • Provide feedback that facilitates the development of communication skills.
  • Maximise student satisfaction by ensuring their experience meets or exceeds their expectations.
  • Play an active role in the development of students’ life skills throughout the Embassy Summer experience.
Specific duties include
  • Teach Embassy Summer lessons.
  • Manage the classroom appropriately.
  • Monitor student welfare and report any concerns immediately.
  • Attend daily lesson preparation sessions.
  • Act on feedback from observations.
  • Attend at least one weekly workshop.
  • Complete academic administration in a timely manner.
  • Attend all relevant meetings.
  • Lead activities if requested to do so.
  • Carry out residential supervision duties, including meal and bedtime supervision (where applicable).
  • Carry out other duties necessary for the smooth running of the centre as required.
Organisational Compliance

The job holder will operate in accordance with the company’s Code of Conduct and local policies relating to academic, welfare and safeguarding matters. Employees must cooperate fully with Health and Safety arrangements, including control measures resulting from risk assessments and relevant training.

Education Required
  • Completed or studying a level 6 qualification or above (e.g., degree level).
  • Completed a TEFL course (minimum 120 hours).
  • Completed a 4‑hour summer teaching induction.
Education Desired
  • CELTA, Trinity ESOL.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent (level 6).
Essential criteria
  • Desire to work in education / learning.
  • Enthusiasm to learn and deliver lessons that motivate and engage teenage learners.

Working week
  • 6 days out of 7 per week (only 5 contact teaching days).
  • 42 hours inclusive of 30 contact teaching hours plus preparation (15 contact teaching hours per week on a half‑day schedule plus activities).
