Overview
Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Disrepair Manager for our client, a local government organisation in Bristol. The successful candidate will support the Head of Service and other managers in leading teams that deal with complaints, disrepair and damp and mould issues, including housing condition cases brought against the authority. Supporting with the managing and leading of the damp and mould and disrepair teams to ensure all claims and legislative issues within Repairs and Maintenance are successfully investigated and completed without delay and in accordance with prescribed timescales. This role is a 2 month initial contract with the possibility to extend. This role is hybrid working.
Responsibilities
- Maintains day-to-day line management and development of all staff and supervisors in the team and to lead on the monitoring and development of repairs policies and legislative change, seeking best practice, ideas and innovative solutions and ensuring they are applied within the Service.
- Take responsibility for identifying service priorities, developing procedures and implementing work projects for teams.
- As the technical service lead, manage the team through the more complex litigation cases to result in a successful conclusion; to include fact finding, report writing, explanatory responses and witness representation at court on behalf of the organisation.
- Monitor the delivery and quality of work carried out by internal trade teams & contractors to maximise customer experience and satisfaction, acting as lead on dealing with any issues or complaints in a timely manner, ensuring lessons learnt from these experiences are implemented as part of driving forward improvements to the service and continuously improving customer experience.
- Ensure staff performance is maintained to a high standard of delivery and customer satisfaction through the setting, and regular monitoring, of both team and individual targets, identifying and providing continuous development opportunities and the effective management of any performance issues within an appropriate timescale and in line with policies. Audit the financial & key performance priorities of the service, implementing the improving performance policy where appropriate.
- Plan and manage, in conjunction with the Response Repairs Management Team, present and future staffing resources, recruitment, training and personal development requirements.
Personal Requirements
- Educated to degree level in building surveying, environmental health or other relevant building construction degree or equivalent qualification.
- Substantial experience working in a housing service (social or private) at a senior level.
- Significant management experience including supervision of professional surveyors, technical staff, support staff, contractors and sub-contractors to manage performance to a high standard.
- Experience of leading, motivating and developing staff to continuously improve the customer\'s experience and to improve performance.
- Excellent knowledge of disrepair in housing to include legislation, regulation, best practice, improvements and technological developments with a detailed understanding of how social landlords are affected by disrepair.
- Ability to successfully manage large revenue and capital budgets, interrogate and interpret financial data ensuring high quality workmanship and achieving value for money.
- Evidence of/willingness to attain registration to a professional body e.g., CIEH, RICS, CIH, CIOB (Desirable).
Working Hours: 37hrs / 8:00 am - 16:30 pm / Monday to Friday
Pay: £500.00 per day
