Job summary

A retail pharmacy chain in Shanklin is seeking a Dispenser to support pharmacy services. The candidate will be responsible for dispensing prescriptions and providing healthcare advice to patients. Job description
Overview

The hourly rate for this role is £13.32 and up to £15.05 across selected locations within London. The Dispenser will be a key member of the pharmacy team, supporting the pharmacist and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of pharmacy and healthcare services in-store. This role is based in-store within the UK. Remote applicants will not be considered and applications from candidates outside the UK will not be progressed unless relevant UK qualifications and right to work can be confirmed and evidenced.

As part of the store’s healthcare department, you will build strong relationships with patients, greet customers, dispense prescriptions, and provide advice to support informed decisions about health and wellness.

Key responsibilities
  • Prescription dispensing while ensuring the safe supply of medicines (ordering medicines, labelling, dispensing, endorsing, and collection of prescriptions).
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals in-store to assist in the management and delivery of pharmacy services.
  • Provide care and advice to patients about medicines and refer queries to the Pharmacist as appropriate.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support the safe and legal dispensing of prescriptions.
  • Keep up to date with new innovations in-store and comply with operational processes.
  • Support patients to manage their prescriptions in their preferred way with reliable repeats and effective medicine management to promote adherence and reduce waste.

Working with evolving technologies within store, you will have the opportunity to work with new systems to improve patient safety and release time to spend more time with patients. Regular updates and training will be provided to develop healthcare knowledge, with career development options including training as a Pharmacy Technician or as part of the store leadership team.

What you’ll need to have
  • Completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification NVQ2 (or equivalent) or are currently working towards and have completed the first year of an MPharm qualification.
  • Current and valid UK right to work. This role is not eligible for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker Visa.
