The role includes providing personal care, facilitating community activities like ice-skating, and supporting the child's mother. Prior experience with children who have special educational needs is preferred. The position requires strong empathy and patience, along with the ability to drive or maneuver a wheelchair. The pay is £12.21 per hour for 4 hours per week.
CX844 PA needed for a boy who loves ice‑skating & trampoline parks 4 hours per week during school holidays, located in HU7.
A young person in the HU7 area would like a Personal Assistant for 4 hours per week during the school holidays only.
He absolutely loves ice‑skating, being pushed around in his wheelchair on the ice and does not want to leave the ice. He likes trampoline parks in the quiet SEN sessions. He likes being pushed around on long walks; if he’s being chauffeured around in a car or his wheelchair he is a happy boy. He has not yet learned to swim, but he loves to play with the water more than get in as he is absolutely obsessed with water.
He can be lovely and loves his cuddles but also can become distressed for any unknown reason; if this happens it’s best to keep him safe and step back if you can not work out what is causing the distress. He will then self‑regulate or have his weighted jacket on which helps him to regulate.
He would like a PA to get him out and about in the community and for his mother to have some time to clean or get out for a coffee as she can not hoover, do washing or anything that makes a noise while this boy is at home because he is sensitive to noise.
He is non‑verbal, but once communication is established he will lead you to his wants and needs. He requires support with personal care, including going to the toilet, getting dressed and undressed.
He travels in a wheelchair or on reins as he is a runner and has no awareness of danger. He will not walk if there is the slightest noise/smell; he doesn’t like small children, they terrify him, but he does acknowledge if he sees children from his class at school. He is terrified of dogs especially small ones.
Prior experience supporting children with special educational needs is preferred. Empathy and patience with a non‑verbal child requiring personal care. Ability to drive a vehicle or manoeuvre a wheelchair if needed.
