We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our integrated Mental Health team at HMP Five Wells. HMP Five Wells is a category C resettlement prison based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, and houses around 1,687 patients. Within this role you will be working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team and will be supported by a second Psychiatrist who is also our national psychiatry lead.

Hours

This position can be be offered as either full time (5 days per week) or part time (2 or 3 days per week) working hours are based 9am-5pm Monday to Friday

Salary

You will receive an annual salary up to £189,900 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

How will we support you?

  • You will be part of a team of 15 plus experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists
  • You will be able to attend monthly Consultant's meeting and 1:1 clinical supervision.
  • Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course

Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks

What you'll be doing:

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the case load onsite
  • Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision
  • Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi professional complex case reviews.

Qualifications required

  • Registered professional with current registration (GMC)
  • Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry
  • Approved under section 12 (2) of the MHS 1983
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
  • Up to date knowledge in the adult psychiatry and PD Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation
