Overview

The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest providers of specialist orthopaedic surgery in Europe with an income base of circa £80m. We offer planned orthopaedic surgery in our 14 dedicated theatres to people locally, nationally and internationally and are one of the few specialised centres in the UK for sarcoma diagnosis and treatment. The Trust is situated in a leafy part of south west Birmingham, approximately 4 miles outside the City centre.

We are looking for a MSK Radiology Consultant to join our dedicated team, to ensure effective delivery of imaging services and utilization of resource whilst maintaining high levels of patient care, working in close collaboration with various MDT meetings. CT guided interventions include biopsies, vertebroplasty and cryotherapy, and we are planning to replace our CT scanner soon. This post is to supplement the existing team of Consultant Radiologists and is designed to complement the existing musculoskeletal radiological imaging service as well as to develop areas of specialised interest in musculoskeletal imaging. There is no on‑call commitment and there is the ability to work flexibly with some home reporting.

We have modern imaging equipment and a dedicated team of Radiographers to support the imaging services. The department is looking to achieve QSI accreditation and the post holder will be a key member of the team to helping us achieve and maintain this.

Responsibilities
  • Attend and contribute to MDT meetings and ensure effective delivery of imaging services and resource utilisation while maintaining high levels of patient care.
  • Engage in sessions dedicated to clinical ultrasound in addition to general and cross‑sectional reporting, interventional CT and participation in selection of MDTs.
  • Perform CT guided interventions as part of the role (biopsies, vertebroplasty, cryotherapy).
  • Support the department in achieving QSI accreditation and maintaining high standards of imaging.
  • Work well within a team, demonstrate flexibility and team working.
