A leading children's hospital in Liverpool is seeking two experienced Paediatric and Neonatal Consultants to join their department. The successful candidates will provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient surgical services and participate in emergency and elective care at Alder Hey and partner hospitals. Candidates must have or be nearing completion of their CCT in Paediatric and Neonatal Surgery.
An opportunity has arisen for 2 Paediatric and Neonatal Consultants to join the Department of Paediatric Surgery and Urology at Alder Hey. The successful applicants will work alongside the current consultant team to provide outpatient and inpatient services at Alder Hey. They will also be required to work at The Royal Stoke Hospital providing elective care in both the outpatient and theatre settings. The candidate must have or be within 6 months of being awarded CCT (or equivalent) in Paediatric and Neonatal Surgery. Close team working and participation in Multi-Disciplinary Team care will be required. The post will involve participating in the acute general surgery on-call.
The successful applicant will join an established team within the Department of Paediatric Surgery including 12 Consultant Paediatric Surgeons and a dedicated specialist nursing team. The post offers 10 Programme Allocation (PA) sessions: 8.5 Direct Clinical Care PAs (including on-call commitments in General Paediatric Surgery at Alder Hey on a 1 in 11 rota) and 1.5 PAs allocated for Supporting Professional Activities (SPA).
Emergency daytime cover is organised as a designated 'Surgeon of the Week' with no elective activity that week, while an additional '2nd On' consultant provides 24-hour on-call emergency cover with split weekends and a rest day following. There is a regular on-call lines list to participate in.
