Job description
Overview

We have a full-time post for a Consultant in Cardiology at the Royal United Hospital, Bath. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of consultants and bring specialist expertise in advanced echocardiography (TOE, DSE).

You will become part of a strong and established team of 11 Consultant Cardiologists that collaborate in a supportive environment. The department includes permanent and trainee staff across the Cardiology service, with dedicated capital facilities for inpatient, on-call and outpatient services.

Responsibilities
  • Contribute to general inpatient, on-call and outpatient cardiology services.
  • Provide a personal clinical service with a special interest in cardiac imaging.
  • Develop and deliver services in general Cardiology and subspecialty interests; additional expertise in Adult Congenital Heart Disease is desirable.
  • Cover for colleagues on leave (prospective cover) as needed and participate in audits, directorate meetings and administrative duties.
  • Maintain professional expertise through meetings and courses; complete CPD diaries and participate in annual appraisal and revalidation as required.
  • Engage in teaching and research where appropriate and contribute to departmental and Trust activities to raise the profile of the department and Trust.
Qualifications
  • Essential: Full GMC with licence to practice; MRCP(UK) or equivalent.
  • Desirable: Higher Degree.
  • Clinical: Training and experience equivalent to UK CCST; ability to perform basic practical procedures relevant to acute medicine.
  • Management and Administrative: Ability to advise on the efficient and smooth running of acute unselected take and a specialty unit.
  • Teaching: Desirable experience supervising SpRs and teaching undergraduates.
