A leading communications organization seeks a proactive Communications and Community Manager for maternity cover. This full-time role entails remote work in the UK with one day at a London office. The ideal candidate will develop communications strategies, manage community events, and drive climate initiatives. A salary of £45,000 – £50,000 per year is offered, along with a variety of responsibilities focused on engaging diverse stakeholders.
As we enter a critical window for transformative climate action across the creative industries, we’re seeking a proactive, creative and strategically-minded Communications and Community Manager (maternity cover) to help amplify our impact and elevate our presence across sectors and audiences.
You’ll love juggling opportunities and learning new things. Whilst you might not be an expert in all things comms, you will have the drive and desire to find out how to make stuff happen. You will have lots of initiative, a sharp eye for opportunities, and a deep sense of ownership. You should be just as comfortable drafting media releases and thought leadership as you are hosting a community event or jumping on a call with collaborators.
As the voice of Purpose Disruptors across channels—you will own and execute our communications plan, manage our social platforms, and translate often complex or technical concepts into compelling, accessible messages. You’ll also nurture our growing community, designing and hosting moments of connection—both digital and in-person—that energise and grow our network.
This role is central to the Purpose Disruptors’ mission. You will shape the way we communicate, build relationships with our growing community, and bring energy and consistency to our voice across multiple platforms and projects.
You will be supporting multiple, simultaneous projects and community events across the entire range of Purpose Disruptors initiatives including:
Since early 2021, Good Life 2030 has brought together leaders and creatives from across the industry to explore what compelling visions of a new ‘good life’ in 2030 could look like, and what these visions mean for them as individuals, their work, their businesses and for the advertising industry itself. Since its inception, there have been various Citizen Vision reports, imagination workshops, briefs and creative campaigns activated in the UK (explore them here). The project has also expanded into Ireland funded by Creative Ireland (part of the Government of Ireland).
The Agency for Nature project rallies major advertising agencies around one mission: use creativity to create hype for nature connection in UK youth culture. In its inaugural year, we worked with five top agencies: Wieden & Kennedy, Leo Burnett, Amplify, The&Partnership and Oliver who brought world-class creativity and cultural cut-through to the challenge. Now in its second year, the initiative brings together 5 new creative agencies and media partners.
Change The Brief is the flagship sustainability learning programme for marketing and advertising professionals, created by Purpose Disruptors. The programme equips them with the skills to navigate the climate transition and adapt their work to promote the sustainable lifestyles urgently needed in society. The programme has been adopted by the ‘big six’ ad holding companies, endorsed by the advertising trade bodies, and recently launched in Australia and the USA, with over 5,000 members.
Advertised Emissions is Purpose Disruptor’s flagship measurement framework that enables agencies, media owners and brands to go beyond their operational emissions and measure the holistic impact of their work: the greenhouse gas emissions that result from the additional sales generated by advertising. Launched at COP26, and recognised by the UNFCCC Race to Zero as Leadership Best Practice and adopted by Dentsu, Advertised Emissions is gaining momentum and recognition both in the UK and globally. As companies across the industry increasingly recognise their role in shaping consumer behaviour and make commitments to promote more sustainable choices, Advertised Emissions is the clear choice to help them demonstrate and quantify progress.
As well as the initiatives outlined above we also organise a monthly pub night and have previously hosted a leadership roundtable series, online webinars, and project launch parties.
Communications Planning & Content Creation
You may not be an expert in all these things, but you’ll be comfortable (and even thrive) in working out how to get stuff done and embrace a new opportunity, even if you’ve not done it before.
