Overview

Location: Ashbourne, Derbyshire (15 mins from Derby City Centre)

Salary: £14.62 - £16.87 per hour (DOE) + £160 shift allowance per month

Hours: 39 hours per week

Shifts: Mon-Thurs 6.30am - 1.30pm; 1.30pm - 10.00pm; Fri: 11.30am - 4.00pm (Rotating)

Contract: Temp-to-Perm (Permanent considered)

Due to continued growth, we are looking for a skilled CNC Grinder / Cylindrical Grinder to join their expanding team.

Role Overview

This is a hands-on role operating and setting Jones & Shipman CNC Cylindrical Grinding machines (part manual). You will work on high-precision components, following engineering drawings and ensuring quality standards are consistently met.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and set Jones & Shipman CNC Cylindrical Grinders (part manual).


• Perform Cylindrical & Surface Grinding, including horizontal and vertical work.


• Straighten shafts, follow process sheets, and maintain tolerances.


• Change grinding wheels, dress wheels, and complete abrasive wheel tasks.


• Work with various materials such as stainless steel and mild steel.


• Read and interpret engineering drawings accurately.


• Maintain strict Health & Safety compliance.


• Keep work areas clean and organised (good housekeeping).

What We\'re Looking For

• Proven experience as a Cylindrical Grinder, CNC Grinder, or Surface Grinder.


• Knowledge of Jones & Shipman machines (advantageous).


• Understanding of engineering drawings and precision tolerances.


• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot.


• Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.


• Apprenticeship or City & Guilds qualification in Engineering (desirable).
