Castle View is a new 48 bedded unit that will provide supportive nursing and therapy led care to facilitate a smooth transition home for patients following a hospital admission.
Our vision is to promote independence with a focus on rehabilitation and reablement to avoid unnecessary long-term care placements.
The unit will optimise outcomes by supporting people to regain their skills and independence and to have a positive care experience.

The post holder will work independently as an autonomous practitioner within the specified advanced clinical area(s) responsible for managing a caseload of patients with complex conditions appropriate to advanced knowledge and skill level and experience: providing flexible and patient-centred programmes of Therapy interventions.
o Leads in the specified clinical area(s) with advanced knowledge, skills and experience to advise and support staff on managing complex clinical issues for the unit, site Therapy service, and at other sites / teams as required.
o Contributes to service improvement and development in the specified clinical area(s) in response to evidence-based practice and national clinical guidelines.
o Provides leadership for staff and students working on the unit through team leadership, supervision, appraisal and development process, performance management and preceptorship.
o Leads clinical audits, undertakes designated research and projects.
o To lead on implementing service improvement and developments for the Unit and Trust Therapy service.
o Flexible working in other clinical areas to support Therapy service delivery using Occupational Therapy / Physiotherapy core knowledge and skills at Band 6 level.
o The post holder will undertake clinical and department support duties.
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
FGH and the RLI have a range of General Hospital services, with full Emergency Departments, Critical/Coronary Care units and various Consultant-led services.
WGH provides a range of General Hospital services, together with an Urgent Treatment Centre, that can help with a range of non-life threatening conditions such as broken bones and minor illnesses.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
