Overview

Class 2 ADR Mini Bulk Tanker Driver (Seasonal) – Location: Preston

Pay Rate: 35k per annum (pro rata). Shift times typical start 05:00 with finish around 14:00/15:00. This is an annualised hours contract paid monthly, working Monday to Friday with flexibility to cover weekends and bank holidays as required. Saturdays paid at time and a half; Sundays and bank holidays paid at double time. Overtime hours are paid monthly in arrears. This is a 6 month fixed term contract.

Manpower are recruiting for 2 x Class 2 ADR Seasonal Mini Bulk Tanker Drivers. You will be responsible for ensuring the company’s distribution activities are performed in a safe, efficient, cost‑effective, and courteous manner.

Responsibilities
  • Perform daily scheduled checks on the vehicle before commencing delivery and after completion of daily activities. Log and report all damages and vehicle defects.
  • Ensure compliance with UK transport legislation regarding tachographs, driving hours and records.
  • Check and report all customer sites conform with safety, signage, housekeeping (standard of paintwork, shrubbery, fences, walls) using the prescribed format.
  • Communicate with the Logistics Planners regularly, particularly when updating delays or disruptions of the delivery schedule and over/under stock situations.
  • Carry sufficient documentation confirming competence and authorisation to drive the company vehicle; ensure the vehicle displays required HAZCHEM signs and written instructions.
  • Ensure a properly completed meter ticket showing quantity of gas delivered; obtain customer signature where possible as proof of delivery.
  • Loading and discharging of vehicles in line with HSE standards and ensure no customer tank is filled beyond 85% of tank capacity.
  • Support and cover on‑call arrangements including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Report all competitor activities discovered during duties to the Area Operations Supervisor.
  • Undertake such training as deemed necessary by the company.
  • Start time commonly around 06:00; drivers may choose their start time once on site, provided daily work is completed (typical shifts ~10–12 hours).
Working Arrangements & Benefits
  • Working within a matrix organisation, reporting to the Site Operations Manager; team of circa 70 drivers across the UK.
  • Daily travel to customer sites within a set radius; additional UK travel to cover on‑call.
  • £1,000 signing on bonus after passing a 3‑month probationary period.
Qualifications and Essentials
  • Full UK driving licence, including authorisation for the category of vehicle to be driven.
  • Current ADR licence, including Core, Tanks & Class 2.
  • Maximum of 6 points (no DDs).
  • Understanding of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) provided.
  • Working knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Understanding of HSE risks, emergency procedures, escape routes and fire prevention conditions.
  • Understanding of incident reporting and safe operating procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure within a seasonal business.
  • Confidence working autonomously.
