Job summary

A regional recruitment agency is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Kinship team in Hereford. In this role, you'll assess Connected and Kinship Foster Carers, support them, and collaborate to improve placement quality. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years' experience in a statutory setting and is passionate about enhancing the lives of children and caregivers. Immediate start available.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified Social Worker (SW Degree, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ recent experience in a statutory setting, preferably within Kinship & Fostering.
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Full driving licence with access to a car.

Responsibilities

  • Assess Connected/Kinship Foster Carers and potential Special Guardians.
  • Provide support to kinship carers and Special Guardians.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and services to enhance placement quality.
  • Conduct complex assessments for Court/Foster Panel.
  • Provide analytical, comprehensive reports within set timescales.
  • Ensure safeguarding requirements are met.

Hours per week: 37

Start date: Immediate start

Salary: £24.08 per hour

The role

We would like to welcome a Social Worker with substantial children’s social work experience to join our countywide Kinship team. Your role will involve assessing Connected/Kinship Foster Carers and potential Special Guardians, as well as supporting these individuals. Collaborating with colleagues and services your work will enhance placement quality, stability, and support for caregivers.

  • Ensure safeguarding and regulatory requirements relating to Kinship care are met.
Essential qualifications and experience
  • Fully qualified Social Worker (SW Degree, DipSW, or equivalent social work qualification).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ recent experience in a statutory setting, preferably within Kinship & Fostering.
  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Full driving licence with access to a car.

Kinship is a specialist team within our broader fostering service, focusing on the assessment of connected person foster carers and Special Guardians, and the support and supervision of approved connected foster carers. We also cover private fostering and offer ongoing support to Special Guardians post-order.
