Job description

THE EMPLOYER IS: LISBURN YMCAThe Child Care Worker will support the delivery of high-quality care to children using the service by helping to create a safe, inclusive, and enjoyable environment. The role involves assisting with age-appropriate activities that promote social development, learning, and well-being for children with learning disabilities and associated disorders.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with setting up rooms, equipment, and materials before each session, and help with tidying, cleaning, and storing resources safely after sessions.
  • Support the smooth running of activities, ensuring the environment is welcoming, safe, and suitable for all children.
  • Deliver and promote evidence-based practice in line with individual care plans under supervision.
  • Work closely with children to understand and support their individual needs, ensuring each child is treated as an individual.
  • Build positive relationships with parents and carers, sharing information and supporting them as appropriate.
Skills and Qualifications
  • A genuine interest in working with children and young people.
  • Willingness to support children with learning disabilities and additional needs.
  • Ability to follow guidance, routines, and health and safety procedures.
  • Basic communication skills and willingness to ask for support when needed.
