Job description

Are you a Nurse or Paramedic looking for a new direction but not ready to leave your current role? Consider our bank opportunities.

You will work alongside the Police in custody suites caring for detainees, helping vulnerable individuals within the criminal justice system.

We require Registered (Adult) Nurses / RGNs, or Paramedics with 2 years' post-qualification experience, who aim to deliver high-quality care and develop their clinical, forensic, and wider skills.

You must be flexible to work not only in your base custody suite but also across an assigned region in Police Custody Suites and Force areas.

What can you expect to earn?

Based on shifts per month:

  • £20.50 per hour for 1-2 shifts
  • £22.50 per hour for 3-5 shifts
  • £24.50 per hour for 6+ shifts

Experience - Essential

  • RN, RGN, or RMN with dual registration: 2 years post-qualification, Band 5 minimum
  • Paramedic: 2 years post-qualification
  • Minimum of 2 years post-qualification experience in a patient-facing role within relevant fields such as General Practice, A&E, Emergency Medicine, Acute Medicine, Walk-in Centres, Substance Misuse Services, Prison Healthcare, or Ambulance Service

Licence/Certification:

  • HCPC/NMC (required)
  • Driving Licence (required)
  • UK residency for at least 3 years with no gaps exceeding 3 months outside the country
  • All candidates will undergo Police Vetting

Role Overview

The custody suites are dynamic environments. While detained, you will provide physical and mental healthcare, gather forensic samples, record assessments, administer medications, and collaborate with local Liaison and Diversion teams to address root causes of crime. No forensic experience is necessary as training will be provided.
