Job description
Responsibilities
  • To be able to perform basic diagnostic audiological assessments on children including a range of behavioural assessments of all ages.
  • Fitting and maintaining a range of NHS and commercial hearing aids including BAHA, BTE, Open fit, Receiver in the Canal, Cros/BiCros. Provision of follow up care in regards to hearing aid management.
  • Ensure local and national protocols for test procedures are adhered to.
  • Liaise with other professionals involved in child's care such as teachers of the deaf, speech therapy, hearing therapist and psychologist as clinical need requires.
  • To support monitoring and updating audiological protocols within the Audiology Department in liaison with the Lead Audiologist and Senior Audiologists.
  • To support and develop plans for the improvements of Audiology services.
  • To participate in the maintenance and updating of relevant hearing aid and audiological databases.
  • To carry out all general administration relating to the Audiology Department, including writing of reports for children on allocated case load.
  • Actively participate in departmental research as required by developing and planning research studies and publishing results in appropriate journals.
About the Post

The post will provide an excellent opportunity to develop your experience in Paediatric Audiology in a unique setting. The department has close links to the Cochlear Implant team.

There will be many opportunities to learn with the unique patient population found here alongside excellent CPD opportunities (Internal & External). Research experience is desirable with several active studies running.

Qualifications

You will need a BSc in Audiology or equivalent. You must also be HCPC/AHCS registered and have post qualification paediatric experience in the NHS or equivalent.
