Job description

As an Associate in the European Transaction Management team, your primary focus will be on assisting Santander's robust track record of strong, efficient and timely execution capabilities in Corporate Lending transactions for Santander Corporate Investment Bank (SCIB) clients across Europe, both relationship defining facilities as well as event-driven/ acquisition finance related. We need someone like you to help us in different fronts:

  • Credit analysis of potential opportunities, including financial modelling and due diligence analysis skills and profitability metrics
  • Identify and develop new product/structure opportunities to expand SCIB's product portfolio and revenue streams.
  • Lead internal initiatives to simplify end-to-end origination and approval processes, improving speed, control, and client experience.
  • Working on business and credit presentations alongside coverage, ACPM and risk, in order to approve transactions on a timely manner,
  • Legal documentation negotiation (Term Sheet and long-form documentation) and review with final client
  • Coordination of Legal, Middle Office and Back Office teams as well as any other internal departments involved in closing duties, as well as with PDM over syndication processes
  • Reporting of credentials, LTs etc.
  • Elaboration of case studies
  • Maintenance of databases and tracking general market trends, monitoring of MRG client related news, creation and monitoring of P&L databases, preparing the documentation for internal metrics / Business Reviews
  • Relevant experience in Corporate Lending, Structured Finance, Investment banking / Finance department, debt fund or similar desirable.
  • Financial Modelling experience
  • Experience working with loan documentation and managing closing processes.
  • Prior exposure to European markets and cross-border transactions preferred.
  • Strong willingness to her/his continuous self-education of both financial and credit analysis skills as well as Market and Regulatory trends. Studying CFA, FRM or similar would be well regarded
  • Knowledge of how capital markets and derivatives work in practice would be beneficial

  • Entrepreneurial spirit and creative attitude towards efficiency improvement projects and framework development to enhance business
  • Languages: Spanish (fluent), English (fluent); French / Italian / German is a plus
  • Economics, Business Administration degree, engineering or similar. Desirable MBA or MSc in Finance or similar
