A leading engineering company in Glasgow offers an exciting apprenticeship for a Rail Engineering Technician. This 39-month program incorporates structured placements to provide comprehensive hands-on experience while studying towards a formal qualification. Candidates will engage in diagnostics and repairs of train systems, participate in daily safety inspections, and receive mentoring from experienced professionals. Applicants should have 5 National 5 certificates, including Math, English, and a Science, and be self-motivated team players eager to develop their skills.

This is an opportunity to join a world-leading engineering company through a well-established 39 months (including End Point Assessment) Apprenticeship Development Programme. You will work alongside experienced professionals and receive strong support, mentoring and coaching while developing against the Apprenticeship Standard.
The programme includes placements across multiple departments to build a broad understanding of the business. Placements are planned to support your development and provide a varied, rewarding experience.
The depot carries out various maintenance and overhaul activities ranging from daily safety inspections, routine exams, corrective maintenance and reliability modifications. We are the primary location for the maintenance of the Caledonian Sleeper fleet of trains.
You will be working as part of a multifunctional team responsible for diagnosing and repairing faults along with undertaking daily service exams.
Academic college studies will be combined with real life work-based experience across our organisation. Your qualification will be completed at Glasgow Clyde College – Training will be delivered by day release. The remainder of the time is spent at work in the depot where y ou will have the opportunity to build and gather evidence of your competence whilst working towards a formal qualification.
