About Us:

Smailes Goldie have an exciting opportunity available for an Accounts Senior/Semi Senior to join our thriving accounts team in our Hull office dealing predominantly with owner managed businesses and clients in our agricultural and landed estates sector.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation and review of statutory financial statements over a varied portfolio of clients including companies, limited liability partnerships, partnerships, sole traders, trusts and preparation of the associated tax computations.
  • Support the supervision, coaching and development of trainees.
  • Preparation and review of VAT returns.
  • Assist with client queries.
  • Preparation and submission of other statutory returns and filings.
  • Work closely with our tax and audit teams as appropriate.
  • Complete work accurately and in a timely and cost-effective manner, working to agreed deadlines.
  • Be proactive in terms of managing your own workload, and be aware of when it is necessary to prioritise certain tasks.
  • Demonstrate professionalism within the office environment and when representing the firm off-site or when communicating with clients, contacts and colleagues verbally or in writing.
  • Undertake continuous training, self-learning and development by attending appropriate training programmes, technical research/reading and keeping up to date with relevant issues within the profession.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • The role is suited to a self-motivated, natural team player with a positive, professional and flexible attitude.
  • The successful candidate will have several years’ experience working in practice and be either qualified or part qualified ACA/ACCA or qualified AAT.
  • Experience with clients in the landed estates and agricultural sector is preferred but not essential. Training will be provided to the right candidate.
  • Ability to use a range of software packages including Excel, Word, Outlook, Xero, Quickbooks, Sage, Farmplan, Key Prime and IRIS would be an advantage.
