We’re working with a fantastic SEN school in Gateshead that’s looking for a steady, supportive Behaviour Support Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil who needs consistent guidance, reassurance and structure. The school has a warm, nurturing feel and a team who work closely together to give every child a sense of belonging.
Supporting one pupil throughout the school day, helping them regulate emotions and stay engaged
Using clear routines, positive reinforcement and calm communication
Working with teachers, support staff and the pastoral team to ensure strategies are consistent
Helping create a safe, predictable learning environment
Celebrating the small wins, even on the tougher days
Someone patient, grounded and great at reading situations
Experience in SEN, youth work, care, sports coaching or behaviour support is helpful
A person who can stay calm in challenging moments and rebuild connection afterwards
Clear communication, resilience and a warm approach
You don’t need to have all the answers, just the right attitude and willingness to learn

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
