A county law enforcement agency is seeking a Deputy Sheriff to perform first-level law enforcement duties including protecting life and property, conducting investigations, and enforcing laws. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or residents, have a high school diploma or equivalent, and be at least 21 years of age. This role requires working varying shifts and may include emergency situations.
The Deputy Sheriff performs first-level law enforcement duties including protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and ordinances, maintenance of order, and crime investigation for the Spokane County Sheriff's Office (Agency). This position is generally under supervision of a patrol corporal and/or sergeant, but may work independently at times. Incumbents will work varying hours and shifts.
Employees of the Spokane County Sheriff's Office hold positions of high public trust. All employees must conduct themselves, both on and off duty, in a manner that does not bring disrepute upon the Agency or the professional image of law enforcement.
Total compensation: $92,651 - $134,744 annually. Starting pay is $34.80 per hour on the pay scale and paid according to the Spokane County Deputy Sheriff\'s Association (DSA) Collective Bargaining Agreement, determined by total years of service as a commissioned law enforcement officer.
NOTE: Do not apply for this position unless you have completed the initial testing through Public Safety Testing (PST). All applicants must take the initial Written Exam and Washington State Physical Ability Test (PAT) through PST before submitting a Spokane County application. Scores are not sent to the agency until you have passed both Written and PAT through PST.
Incentives include Education Incentive: AA/AS 3.5%, Bachelor’s 7%, Master’s 9%. Residency is not required to live within Spokane County.
