The UMR CNRS 6302 ICMUB has sixty years of experience in transition metals and heteroatom ligands chemistry, applied to clean processes and health. The team is internationally recognized for work in metal catalysis, including C–C and C–X bond formation (X = O, N, S, halides) for innovative organic synthesis under sustainable conditions.

The UPR CNRS LCC team focuses on nanosciences and their applications related to societal challenges such as aeronautics, energy, environment, microelectronics, and health. They design and develop nano-objects from synthesis to device integration.

The Laplace laboratory researches energy conversion mechanisms and develops plasma processes, aiming to characterize each step to understand the relationships between plasma properties and the final products.

This thesis project aims to develop catalytic technology for the functionalization of alkenes by CO2 (carboxylation), focusing on creating C−C bonds via synthesis in aqueous solutions. The project targets pharmaceutical carboxylic acids like ibuprofen, using a nickel-catalyzed approach. CO2 activation by plasma will be studied in collaboration with physicists (S. DAP, Laplace Laboratory, Toulouse) within the framework of the ANR PRC program (COVADIS). The project involves close cooperation between ICMUB-Dijon (Pr. J.-C. Hierso) and CNRS LCC-Toulouse (Dr. M. L. Kahn), with a focus on understanding mechanisms involved.
