We're seeking a Staff Engineer with deep security expertise to help secure, scale, and innovate our Action Platform — a system that powers integrations with third-party services across products like Workflow Automation, App Builder, and more.

Our platform enables a wide range of actions, from sending a Slack message and updating an AWS S3 bucket to deleting a Kubernetes pod.

We support:

• Private Actions, which run on customer infrastructure via a Go-based runner
• Cloud Actions, executed using a TypeScript-based framework

In this role, you'll collaborate across two teams across two locations:

• API Team in New York – Focused on orchestrating and scaling our infrastructure and cloud services while ensuring a robust security posture and mitigating threats
• Runtime Team in Paris – Responsible for the development and lifecycle of our action platform runners, enhancing the Action Developer Experience, securing execution environments, and supporting UI components for clients

What You’ll Do:

• Design and drive high priority, high visibility projects that increase the platform's resilience and scalability across multiple teams
• Lead and guide others through architectural decisions for new and existing distributed, high-throughput, real-time systems
• Identify potential system risks and trends in reliability, and design solutions to address them
• Provide input on prioritization of engineering-led initiatives in short- and long-term planning and roadmaps
• Collaborate closely with partner platforms that integrate and depend on the event platform to provide critical capabilities to their customers

Who You Are:

• You have led cross-team initiatives in a platform or infrastructure-focused environment for 2+ years.
• Passionate about performance and efficiency optimization.
• You have led impactful technical initiatives in an environment where performance, reliability, and accuracy are first-order concerns
• You have a reliability-oriented mindset and care deeply about designing and building resilient architectures
• You have significant back end programming experience and have architected, built, and operated distributed systems to solve problems at high scale
