A global leader in energy solutions is seeking a Technical Support professional to aid our nuclear activities in Surgères. The ideal candidate will have diesel engine expertise with a Bachelor's degree plus experience, and advanced English skills. You will be responsible for solving technical issues and defining specifications while contributing to team objectives in an empowering work environment.

What you will be doing

Reporting to the Technical Service Manager within our Special Application entity, you will play a crucial role in offering technical support for our nuclear activities.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary Technical Support for the Special Applications (SA) departments focused on nuclear activity.
  • Address technical issues related to diesel engines from internal SA clients, analyze, and identify problem causes in collaboration with relevant internal or external parties.
  • Define technical specifications for the procurement of new parts that meet product definition requirements. Provide technical assistance on issues concerning non‑compliant parts or deviation requests.
  • Establish acceptance criteria for compliant engine products, including test bench specifications, requalification criteria for component acceptance, and offer technical support throughout the engine refurbishment process, identifying components for replacement.
  • Draft ASI Service Bulletins, official technical documents for customer communication.
  • Compile expert reports in scenarios involving component validation, obsolescence (in conjunction with Supply Management), damages, or specific customer requests (coordinating with Contract Management and Sales Management).
  • Review and verify documents from Methods, Field Services, and Quality departments.
  • Maintain daily reporting (KPI) to monitor performance and progress.
  • Provide backup and support to other Technical Service teams in both the military and nuclear sectors.
  • Respect applicable rules regarding Quality, Safety, and Environment in accordance with Wärtsilä commitments.
  • Travel expected about 6 per year (technical audits, technical validation of suppliers).
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have
  • Diesel engine technical expertise, nuclear or military business expertise.
  • Bachelor’s degree + 2 years of additional experience.
  • Advanced level of written and spoken English.
  • Rigor, organization, autonomy.
  • Team spirit and interpersonal skills, sense of service.
  • Ability to optimise existing solutions.
