Responsibilities
- Safeguard the future profitability of the Travel line of business.
- Ensure that new and renewal business pricing proposals align with the company's profitability objectives and underwriting policy.
- Coordinate and guide junior team members in France, Spain, and Portugal across various projects, fostering collaboration and effective communication.
- Partner with Sales colleagues to achieve growth targets.
- Collaborate with business partners and brokers to gather information for underwriting decisions.
- Provide analysis on scheme performances using customer data, claims history, and other factors.
- Work with claims department to ensure claims are handled per underwriting guidelines and understand case reserves' impact.
- Stay updated on travel/travel insurance market trends.
- Rehabilitate poorly performing schemes within the portfolio.
- Use data analytics tools to analyze underwriting trends and portfolio performance.
- Support global and European initiatives, sharing knowledge and best practices.
The role will work closely with:
- Regional and Global Product Management teams
- Pricing Model and Portfolio Monitoring teams
- Heads of Travel Case Underwriting and Pricing Europe
- Regional and Global Underwriting teams
- Sales, Operations, Claims, Compliance, and Risk Management teams
Other Duties
- Develop technical underwriting competency.
- Maintain accurate records of quotations and approvals.
- Ensure system prices match approved prices.
- Monitor business performance and recommend remedial actions.
- Understand regulatory and legislative issues in travel insurance.
- Contribute to new product development.
- Serve as contact for co-insurers, re-insurers, and providers.
- Complete administrative tasks promptly.
- Identify and suggest process improvements.
- Support ad-hoc underwriting tasks as needed.
Key requirements / What you bring
Education / Training / Qualifications:
- Minimum 7+ years experience in underwriting, actuarial, or similar roles.
- Strong understanding of insurance principles and risk perception.
- Numerical and analytical skills, proficient in data analysis, dashboards, and reports.
- Experience with Excel and PowerBI; knowledge of SQL, R, Python, SAS, Radar is a plus.
- Understanding of regulatory impacts on insurance business.
- Strong communication skills and cultural awareness for working across Europe and globally.
