Job Description

To accelerate innovation across Lesaffre, we are seeking for a Senior Scientist in Enzymology to join the center of excellence MicroOrganismS. This key position will drive forward our enzyme selection and caracterisation projects, contributing to Lesaffre's innovation pipeline and technological leadership in industrial biotechnology

You will report to the head of Applied Microbiology and Enzymology team. You will be in charge of proposing, designing, executing and/or managing experiments to select and characterize enzymes for specific/targeted applications for Lesaffre. You will also be in charge of developing targeted methodologies to support the characterization and valorization of enzymes.

Your main responsibilities will be :

  • To conduct in vitro or in silico studies to characterize and select enzymes for specific/targeted applications for Lesaffre (applicative medium, complex matrixes )
  • To translate strategic needs from our stakeholders, BU and customers into operational actions
  • To implement, modify or develop in vitro methods to be able to detect or quantify enzymes of interest
  • To participate in R&D projects applying project management techniques either as PM or project member
  • To propose, design, execute and/or manage experiments either individually or within a larger team.
  • To deliver high quality scientific expertise through your expert ability to critically analyse and interpret data using statistically approach
  • To routinely report your progress through activity reports and oral presentations.
  • To contribute to scientific publications and patent applications. You may represent Lesaffre in international conferences.
  • To stay abreast of current scientific literature and emerging technologies in enzymolmogy and drive implementation of relevant technologies within MicroOrganismS center of excellence.
Qualifications

You hold a PhD in Biochemistry, Enzymology, Protein science or related field, with a minimum of 7 years of experience in enzyme research.

Technical competencies :

  • Extensive knowledge of enzyme kinetics, mechanisms, and protein biochemistry
  • Strong expertise in enzyme expression, purification, and characterization techniques.
  • Familiarity with bioinformatics tools for protein sequence and structure analysis
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing enzyme use in food, feed, and industrial applications (EFSA, FDA regulations)
  • Proficiency of proteomics is a plus.
  • Proven experience in protease expression and characterisation is a plus.
  • Able to apply experimental design and statistical analysis approaches using tools such as Minitab or related software.
  • Knowledge of project management principles and tools
  • Fluent in English, both written and orally.
  • Experience with LIMS/ELN systems is a plus.
