Description du poste
Senior Maintenance Technician – HVAC and Critical Systems

Paris, France

Paris (Ivry-sur-Seine), CDI / Full-Time / In-Person

At Interstellar Lab, our mission is to build a future full of life, on Earth and beyond. We believe in a world where humans live in harmony with nature, where biodiversity thrives and expands, and where terrestrial life becomes multi-planetary.

To build this future, we design autonomous biospheric systems to grow plants with precision, on Earth and in Space. Our AI-powered BioPods and BioCapsules leverage biosciences to reproduce and optimize growth conditions for a wide variety of high-value plants.

On Earth, we pioneer molecular and biofarming, boosting the production of metabolites and bioactive compounds while offering sustainable, traceable, and high-quality natural ingredients to the beauty, fragrance, pharmaceutical, and nutraceutical industries.

In space, we collaborate with agencies and private companies to develop biofarming units that advance life science research in microgravity and lay the foundation for future biofactories in space, enabling innovative terrestrial applications and long-duration space missions.

About the Role

As a Technical Maintenance Technician with strong expertise in HVAC and critical systems, you will ensure the reliability and continuous operation of Interstellar Lab’s assets (BioPods and BioCapsules). The role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance of climate and cooling systems, with additional hands‑on support on mechanical assemblies and temporary installations linked to R&D projects.

This role is central to our operations and requires a methodical, hands‑on, and problem‑solving mindset. You will also play a key role in structuring intervention processes, implementing SOPs, and ensuring traceability of maintenance actions to continuously improve operations, system reliability, and future design iterations. On‑call duties during weekends are part of the role.

Responsibilities
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC and climate control systems including AHUs, condensers, heat exchangers, cooling and heating circuits, and dehumidification systems.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on critical technical assets.
  • Identify root causes of mechanical, thermal, and electrical failures and implement durable corrective actions.
  • Ensure continuous and safe operation of assets essential to ongoing projects and customer programs.
  • Intervene on complex mechanical assemblies, including disassembly and reassembly for maintenance and improvement.
  • Support experimental setups, prototypes, and temporary installations for R&D activities.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and design teams during troubleshooting and upgrades.
  • Document interventions, incidents, and corrective actions, contribute to the definition of SOPs, and ensure traceability to support continuous improvement across maintenance, operations, and system design.
Profile / Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC, industrial cooling, or technical maintenance environments.
  • Strong hands‑on diagnostic and troubleshooting skills in real operating conditions.
  • Ability to work confidently on non‑standard, complex technical systems.
  • Skills in electrical systems and/or plumbing are a strong advantage.
  • Ability to read and understand technical diagrams and schematics.
  • Patient, methodical, and rigorous approach to maintenance and repair work.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to propose technical improvements.
  • Curious, adaptable, and comfortable working in environments with uncertainty.
  • Fluent in French with professional proficiency in English.
