A leading French research institute seeks a Researcher specializing in quantum electronic. The position involves developing experiments with spin qubits and collaborating within the QLSI2 consortium. Candidates should hold a PhD in a related field and possess experience with quantum measurements. This full-time role is based in France.
Organisation/Company CNRS Department Institut NEEL Research Field Engineering Physics Technology Researcher Profile First Stage Researcher (R1) Country France Application Deadline 8 Dec 2025 - 23:59 (UTC) Type of Contract Temporary Job Status Full-time Hours Per Week 35 Offer Starting Date 1 Feb 2026 Is the job funded through the EU Research Framework Programme? Not funded by a EU programme Is the Job related to staff position within a Research Infrastructure? No
The position aims at developing experiments using spin qubits in arrays of semiconductor quantum dots. In particular, based on our recent result in small arrays, we aim at exploiting coherent control of spin qubit in larger arrays to perform quantum simulation or algorithm.
Therefore, the research involves participation in the design of quantum devices with our collaborators within the QLSI2 european consortium, optimization of spin readout at large scale, development of automatic control of qubit arrays using state of the art control electronic, data acquisition and analysis followed by publications and communication in conferences.
• Participate in the design of quantum chip in FDSOI and semiconductor heterostructures
• Perform quantum measurements at low temperature
• Cosupervise PhD students on related project
• Communicate results
Institut Néel, is a large laboratory covering many different fields of condensed matter physics. The Quanteca team has a long lasting expertise in exploring quantum phenomena in nanoelectronics devices at low temperature. This project is a collaborative work between Quanteca and CEA-LETI and CEA-IRIG and European collaborators within the QLSI2 program.
The Institut NEEL is one of the largest French national research institutes for fundamental research in condensed matter physics, enriched by interdisciplinary activities at the interfaces with chemistry, engineering and biology. The laboratory is affiliated with CNRS Physique. It is located in the heart of a unique scientific, industrial, and cultural environment. It is part of one of Europe's largest high-tech ecosystems in micro- and nanoelectronics, right next to the French Alps.
The Institut NEEL is a CNRS laboratory. CNRS is a public, scientific and technological organisation.
The core mandate is to identify, carry out ou have carried out, either alone or with partners, all research that advances science or contributes to the country's economic, social, and cultural progress. Internationally recognised for the excellence of its scientific research, the CNRS is a reference in the world of research and development, as well as for the general public.
• Holds a PhD in quantum electronic or related field
• Good capacity to communicate in English (written and oral)
• Experience with quantum measurements, microwave electronics, automatic tuning is mandatory
