A research organization in France seeks a First Stage Researcher to contribute to the development of microcell-based optical clocks. The role involves improving vapor cell technology and supervising students. Ideal candidates will have a degree in Physics and experience with atomic clocks, optics, and programming skills. This is a full-time, temporary position based in France, starting 1 Jan 2026.

Contribution to the development of microcell-based optical clocks at FEMTO-ST. Contribution to the progress/improvement of microfabricated vapor cell technology and/or clock frequency metrological performances. Possible contribution to the supervision of Master and PhD students. Communication of results in high-impact scientific journals and international conferences.
Laser frequency stabilization onto atomic vapor cells. Atomic spectroscopy. Metrology of optical frequencies. MEMS vapor cell technologies
Physics, applied physics, engineering sciences, optics and/or MEMS technologies. Experience with atomic/quantum clocks, sensors and metrology is a strong plus-value. Electronics and instrumentation, for piloting of experiments (python prefered). Experience with CAD design/sumulation (mechanics/optics/thermics) is a plus-value.
