Job Description

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT), you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Required Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to assume responsibility.
  • Ability to operate technical instruments and equipment daily and assisting with equipment maintenance.
  • Participation in training of new staff.
  • Communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced and changing environment.
  • Proven analytic and problem‑solving skills, attention to detail, logical/methodical work habits, and ability to work independently.
  • Performing all required Quality Control procedures and maintaining accurate and up‑to‑date records.
  • Investigating and documenting Quality Control problems and following up with Charge Technologist.
  • Following all established policies and procedures for performing and reporting various laboratory procedures using manual and automated processes.
  • Documenting technical problems and contacting service, as required.
  • Represent Laboratory Medicine in a respectful, professional, and courteous manner.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Core lab experience within the last 2 years and phlebotomy experience.
  • Laboratory experience operating the following analyzers: XT3400 Chemistry analyzer, Access II, ACL Elite Pro, Sysmex XN550, Clinitek Advantus, and experience with ID‑MTS gel system for Transfusion Medicine.
  • EPIC LIS experience preferred.
