Our client is a well-established service business based in Burntwood, operating within the motor trade. With a strong local presence and a supportive working culture, they are looking to appoint a Junior Accounts Assistant on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity to join a thriving organisation where no two days are the same, and where you’ll play a key role in supporting the finance function and developing your career in accounts.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Accountant, you will support the day-to-day activities of the accounts department, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial processes. Key responsibilities include:

  • Posting daily card and cash banking, and processing and reconciling petty cash.
  • Posting bank statements daily, including preparing month-end bank reconciliations.
  • Running debtor reports and liaising weekly with department managers to resolve outstanding debts across Vehicles, Service, Parts, Rental and Warranty.
  • Raising, processing and authorising payments such as refunds, cashbacks, goodwill, settlements and vehicle purchases in line with company policy.
  • Supporting the department with additional ad hoc duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A keen interest in accounts and finance, with the desire to build a career in this field.
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Good organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • A proactive, enthusiastic approach, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • This role would suit a graduate or school leaver looking to gain hands-on experience in a supportive finance team.
  • Motor trade experience and Kerridge DMS knowledge would be advantageous but are not essential, as training will be provided.
