To strengthen its ability to transform complex data into actionable insights and establish a long-term data and knowledge management strategy, the Lesaffre Institute for Science and Technology (LIST) is seeking a Head of Bioinformatics and Biological Knowledge Management.

In this role, you will join the Biodata Center of Excellence. Our mission is to accelerate the development of Lesaffre products by leveraging multi-omics data and artificial intelligence. Our expertise spans diverse domains such as bioinformatics, multi-omics analysis, metabolic engineering, high-dimensional statistics, and machine learning. We act as an innovation enabler and catalyst, working in close collaboration with the various Business Units of Lesaffre and the other LIST Centers of Excellence on a wide range of projects.

As the Head of Bioinformatics and Biological Knowledge Management, your primary mission will be to build a strong R&D capability that helps the organization unlock the value of the data generated by our state-of-the-art high-throughput experimental platforms. This will involve developing a sustainable and long-term strategy at the intersection of bioinformatics and knowledge management.

Your missions:

• Manage a multidisciplinary team with expertise in bioinformatics, data engineering and knowledge management.

• Develop a strategic vision and roadmap for data and knowledge management, leveraging cutting-edge semantic technologies such as knowledge graphs and ontology-based modeling.

• Oversee and challenge the development and deployment of bioinformatics pipelines and tools to ensure robust, scalable and automatic data analysis workflows.

• Ensure the operational efficiency of our bioinformatics platform and a FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) management of omics data.

• Steer the deployment and drive the adoption of laboratory information management systems (LIMS) across the Lesaffre R&D community.

• Serve as the subject matter expert and leader for the R&D data governance initiatives.

• Develop data engineering expertise to leverage the organization's digital data platform for R&D teams.

• Support the efficient and effective execution of research projects to align with the overall R&D strategy.

• Contribute to the overall leadership and direction of the BioData department.

• Represent the department externally, building partnerships and relationships with key stakeholders in industry and academia.

Qualifications

• Proven expertise in biological knowledge management and semantic technologies, with a strong background spanning both academic and industrial settings

• Demonstrated experience in leading and motivating multidisciplinary R&D teams, fostering collaboration and innovation.

• Solid understanding of bioinformatics and cloud-based computational infrastructures, with the ability to effectively challenge and guide the team on these aspects.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders in a cross-functional environment.

• Strategic thinking and problem-solving acumen, with a focus on driving innovative solutions.

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work setting.

• Fluency in English and experience working in an international environment.

• Prior experience in the biotechnology domain would be considered a plus.
