JOB SUMMARY
The Government Inside Sales Representative will be responsible for federal state and local bid sites and purchasing cooperatives, bid submissions, lead generation, conversion, and maintaining strong business relationships with current and prospective customers, including government accounts. This role will focus on driving sales, providing exceptional customer support, and identifying opportunities to grow business through outbound outreach, trade shows, and market analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS
- Enroll, maintain, and monitor federal state and local bid sites and purchasing cooperatives
- Maintain database of submissions and their outcomes
- Establish and refine automated notifications for opportunities suitable to our products
- Establish, develop, and maintain business relationships with new and existing accounts, including government agencies.
- Contact customers proactively by phone, email, and in person to anticipate their needs and become their primary supplier.
- Attend trade shows and events to develop new opportunities and represent Sellmark brands.
- Achieve/exceed minimum daily contact requirements (calls, emails, meetings).
- Ensure CRM records are accurate, current, and reflective of customer activity.
- Analyze market potential, evaluate opportunities, and provide forecasting to maximize sales.
- Maintain comprehensive product knowledge to emphasize features, benefits, pricing, and terms while preparing responses to government opportunities.
- Provide excellent ongoing customer service and support, including suggestive selling to match customer needs.
- Monitor and report on government purchasing and request trends.
- Plan and track travel, submit expense reimbursements, and maintain required documentation.
- Perform additional duties as needed to support the Sales Department’s effective operation.
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor’s degree is preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Prior sales experience preferred, government sales or inside sales background a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficient in verbal and written communication.
- Self-motivated with ability to manage multiple priorities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- May be required to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Occasional bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and operating office machinery and motor vehicles.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Primarily office-based with exposure to outdoor conditions and travel requirements.
WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS- Main hours are Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm in office.
- Some travel may be required for trade shows, customer visits, and events.
