Description du poste
Role overview

We’re hiring a freelance senior product designer (4 days/week) to lead the design of our platform and shape the future of product design at Rainbow.

You’ll join a small, ambitious product & tech team (5 engineers + 1 PM) at a defining moment: we’ve raised our seed round and are entering a new phase of product growth. This is a unique opportunity to elevate our product experiences, design system, and user research foundations.

Your work will directly support the fight against climate change, alongside a team that shares your drive to make a meaningful, lasting impact.

You’ll be instrumental in shaping and growing our product design capabilities and strategy. You’ll lead product design across the entire user journey, from discovery and ideation to implementation and iteration. This role requires a blend of creativity, technical proficiency, and a deep understanding of user-centered design principles.

Our product

Our core product is our certification platform, designed to enable project developers to certify their projects and complete LCAs based on our standards and methodologies. This enables our users to accurately quantify their emission reductions or avoidances and certify their carbon credits, playing a vital role in the global effort to combat climate change. We’re on a mission to build the most transparent, trustworthy, and science-driven certification platform.

What you’ll do

Hands-on design

  • Translate user needs into intuitive product experiences.
  • Spend as much time as possible in wire-framing state, to create coherent user journeys, validated through research.
  • Create high-fidelity prototypes and designs in Figma, such that they’re ready to be used by the engineering team.
  • Conduct and contribute to user interviews, discovery, and testing, translating them into actionable design improvements.
  • Maintain and update the design system.
  • Bring visual storytelling and brand clarity to our product and visual assets.

Strategic leadership

  • Partner with our product & tech team and founders to shape the how of our product experiences.
  • Guide and evolve our design system and strategy, ensuring consistency, scalability, and accessibility.
  • Champion our visual identity across product and marketing material.
Why this role is special
  • You’ll be our sole product designer, shaping the role and design function from scratch.
  • You’ll have a voice in strategy, brand, and user experience from day one.
  • You’ll work on a mission-driven product to accelerate the environmental transition.
  • You’ll be part of a humble, curious, and impact-driven team.
  • This role may evolve into a full-time position as our design needs expand.

️ About us

Carbon credits aren’t working the way they should.

They’re hard to understand, hard to trust, and often disconnected from what buyers and projects actually need. Rainbow aims to change that, starting from first principles.

In 2021, we launched Rainbow out of a shared interest in engineered solutions to remove or avoid CO₂. We set out to answer a core question: what would it take to help these solutions scale?

That journey led us to the voluntary carbon market—a system that, while essential, was falling short. As we dug deeper, it became clear that enabling real impact meant rethinking how credits are created, verified, and connected to buyer strategies.

Rainbow was built to make the carbon credit market more transparent, technically rigorous, and aligned with both project realities and market demand.

We work closely with project developers and field teams to ensure every credit reflects real-world impact.

Now a growing team of engineers, scientists, and market experts, Rainbow became one of just 13 ICROA-endorsed crediting bodies globally in 2024—a milestone that reflects our commitment to trust, quality, and impact at scale.

We recently raised €5 million in seed funding backed by some of the leading VCs in Europe, enabling us to enter a new phase of product growth.

  • Someone excited to help shape design at an early-stage company and grow with us.
  • Someone who thinks about details and edge cases, making sure no stone of the user experience is left unturned.
  • Someone who is good at execution with a strong sense of design.
  • 4+ years experience designing complex SaaS or platform products.
  • Proficiency in design tools, Figma is preferred.
  • Working proficiency in English, French is a plus.
  • Keen interest in contributing to a more sustainable world.
  • Bonus: experience with graphic/brand design.
