A local educational institution is seeking an Assistant Teacher to support classroom activities and ensure effective learning. The Assistant Teacher will supervise students, participate in lesson planning, and guide children in harmonious interactions. A High School Diploma and passing the assistant teacher WorkKeys test are required. The role involves physical demands such as moving around the classroom and lifting children as necessary. Competitive salary to be established by the Board.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma; a passing score on the assistant teacher WorkKeys test.
  • Alternatives to the above qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Board.

Responsabilités

  • Supervises students as assigned by Classroom Teacher.
  • Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
  • Conducts learning exercises with children.
  • Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
  • Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual children.
  • Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary.
  • Helps maintain individual records for each child.
  • Fosters good eating habits and table manners in children.
  • Assists teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.
  • Assists with the supervision of children during regular play periods.
  • Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays.
  • Assumes responsibility for tasks assigned by the Principal or supervisory teacher.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Goal

To assist the teacher in maintaining appropriate classroom activities and environment in order that students may learn effectively.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Supervises students as assigned by Classroom Teacher.
  • Participates in daily and long-range lesson and classroom activity planning.
  • Conducts learning exercises with children.
  • Guides children in working and playing harmoniously with other children.
  • Alerts the teacher to special needs of individual children.
  • Provides escort and assistance to children as necessary.
  • Helps maintain individual records for each child.
  • Fosters good eating habits and table manners in children.
  • Assists teacher in maintaining neat work and study areas.
  • Assists with the supervision of children during regular play periods.
  • Collects and displays suitable material for educational displays.
  • Assumes responsibility of tasks assigned by the Principal or supervisory teacher.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to move freely around the classroom and communicate effectively. Additionally, the employee continuously uses hands to grasp items during the day. The employee must squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head, and reach forward. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to thirty pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds.

Salary and work year to be established by the Board.
