We are looking for a Accounting Expert Team Leader for the Central Europe region ( Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Ukraine) based in Barcelona . The incumbent will lead the Central Europe Technical Accounting Team (3 direct, 2 indirect reports) and serve as the regional accounting expert , ensuring financial reporting integrity in line with US GAAP, local GAAP, SOX , and corporate standards .

The EMEA Accounting Team is a key part of Air Products’ global finance organization, responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting. Operating from Barcelona the team collaborates closely with local finance teams, auditors, and regulatory entities. With deep expertise in both local GAAP and US GAAP, the team plays a critical role in statutory reporting, audit coordination, and financial compliance, contributing to the integrity and transparency of our financial operations across the region.

As a Team Lead Accounting You Will

• Lead and manage the Central Europe Technical Accounting Team and act as an accounting expert for Central Europe, maintaining the integrity of financial reports in compliance with US GAAP, local GAAP, SOX, and corporate standards.
• Be directly responsible for technical accounting activities in Poland and Hungary, including statutory reporting, audit coordination, and compliance.
• Ensure that all reporting meets the requirements of US GAAP and SOX.
• Ensure timely and accurate local GAAP reporting for legal entities in Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, and Ukraine.
• Oversee the preparation and filing of statutory financial statements in accordance with local accounting standards and legal requirements.
• Coordinate and support external audits, ensuring clean sign-offs from local auditors.
• Supervise monthly, quarterly, and annual closings under US GAAP, in line with the company’s global closing schedule.
• Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly / quarterly basis, ensuring compliance with internal policies.
• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including Finance, Tax, Legal, Payroll, and Business teams across the region.
• Set team priorities and work plans in alignment with Technical Accounting Senior Management and corporate deadlines.

You Will Have

A university degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

5 years of experience in a technical accounting leadership role, ideally within a shared services or multinational environment.

Proven experience in the preparation of annual financial statements under local GAAP (Polish or Hungarian).

Strong knowledge of US GAAP and / or IFRS is considered an advantage.

Fluency in English and Polish or Hungarian.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary, multicultural environment.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP experience is a plus.
