What you’ll be doing

As a Software Engineer II, you are expected to satisfy all Software Engineer I requirements and to have strong foundational skills in software engineering, allowing you to quickly adapt to the team’s programming languages, database technologies, and design patterns.

Scope, Influence, and Skillset

• Scope includes multiple features and components developed by your team.
• Direct influence on the team level and indirect contribution at the domain level.
• Autonomous contribution with occasional guidance from senior members.
• Participation in architectural decisions with mentorship when necessary.

Regular day as a Software Engineer II

• Architecture: Understand the maintenance characteristics, runtime properties, cost implications, and dependencies of your team’s software, including hardware platform, operating system, and build dependencies.
• Technical Competence: Proficient in a broad range of data structures and algorithms, knowing when to use them appropriately.
• Quality of Work: Write code that is readable, maintainable, and documented according to industry standards.
• Business Expertise: Understand the business context and customer pain points, striving for empathy and effective solutions.
• Execution: Efficiently estimate solutions and component‑level requirements, contributing to team predictability and throughput.
• Impact: Solve complex problems spanning more than one component, applying appropriate technologies and best practices.
• Collaboration: Work on solutions with stakeholders and peers, actively participating in code reviews and design discussions.
• Ownership and Accountability: Autonomous contributor, proposing solutions and resolving issues independently.
• Growth Mindset: Take on larger initiatives and make software enhancements to improve team software and processes.
